Tuition for Secondary Schools (Secondary 2)

Entry Requirements

  1. Student must be at least 13 years of age as at the date of enrollment.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of prior education.
  3. Student’s English proficiency level must be equivalent to Singapore’s Secondary 1
Course learning outcome(s)

Students will acquire the knowledge of the following Secondary 2 modules:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. General Science
  4. Geography
  5. Chinese Language

Students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

Offered as a 5-month tuition programme offering English Language, Mathematics, General Science, Geography, and Chinese Language

Learning Objectives

English Language

At the end of the tuition programme, students will be able to communicate effectively in English. They will be able to:

  1. Listen to, read and view with understanding, accuracy and critical appreciation, a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts from print.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in situational writing.
  3. Speak, write and make presentations in acceptable English that is grammatical and fluent.
  4. Interact effectively with people from their own or different cultures.

Mathematics

At the end of the tuition programme, students will be able to :

  • Develop the necessary process skills for the acquisition and application of

  3. Algebraic Fractions
  4. Congruence and Similarity
  5. Linear Equations
  6. Quadratic Functions

  9. Set Language and Notation
  10. Data Analysis

  • Organise and analyse data and information; formulate problems into mathematical terms and select and apply appropriate techniques of solution, including manipulation of algebraic expressions; make effective use of a variety of mathematical tools in the learning and application of mathematics.

General Science

At the end of the tuition programme, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to:

  1. The particulate model of matter
  2. Atoms, molecules and ions
  3. Energy around us
  4. Light and colour
  5. Household electricity
  6. Forces at work
  7. Effects of Heat Energy
  8. Transmission of Heat
  9. Changing Matter
  • Demonstrate knowledge of scientific vocabulary, terminology and conventions
  • Develop abilities and skills that are relevant to the study of Science

Geography

At the end of the tuition programme, students will be able to:

  • demonstrate relevant factual knowledge such as geographical facts, concepts, processes, interactions of the following:
  1. Human environment
  2. Population
  3. Settlements
  4. Agriculture Transport and Communications
  5. Managing Our Changing Environment
  6. Land Supply
  7. Water Resources
  8. Pollution in the World
  9. Global Warming and Ozone Depletion

Chinese Language

At the end of the tuition programme, students will be able to communicate effectively in Mandarin. They will be able to:

  1. Listen to, read and view with understanding, accuracy and critical appreciation, a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts from print.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in situational writing, comprehension and summaries.
  3. Speak, write and make presentations in fluent Mandarin.

A report card will be issued within 14 days after the last CA / SA paper.
