
COURSE STRUCTURE
The course is conducted on a modular basis and students have the flexibility to choose the number of units for each semester. There are three semesters per academic year, in February, July and November.
Stage 1
Students undertake four coursework subjects of the Graduate Certificate in Maritime and Logistics Management
Stage 2
Students undertake another four coursework subjects of the Graduate Diploma in Maritime and Logistics Management.
Students can select any 8 subjects, taking into account pre-requisites that are available for Graduate Certificate in Maritime and Logistics Management and Graduate Diploma in Maritime and Logistics Management as follows:
- Management
- International Human Resource Management
- Maritime Economics
- Maritime Law
- Business Logistics
- Knowledge Management and Human Resource Development
- Financial Resource Management
- Services Marketing
- Ports and Terminals Management
- Strategic Management*
- Supply Chain Management
- Electronic Commerce and Information Technology
- Transformational Leadership
*Management is a pre-requisite for Strategic Management
Stage 3
Candidates undertake either four coursework subjects or one coursework subject and a dissertation. The following four coursework subjects are generally studied for the MBA:
- Business Research
- International Trade
- An elective from the Graduate Diploma
- International Maritime Policy
The option exists for candidates in Stage 3 of the MBA program to undertake a research dissertation (approximately 30,000 words) in lieu of the course work. The dissertation is equivalent to three subjects. Candidates taking this option must take Business Research.
A candidate entering Stage 3 of the MBA must complete the 8 subjects in the Graduate Certificate (Maritime and Logistics Management) and Graduate Diploma (Maritime and Logistics Management) programs, with a credit average, unless the Course Committee approves a specific exemption.
