Bachelor of Business
(Maritime and Logistics Management)
 

OVERVIEW

The Bachelor of Business (Maritime and Logistic Management) course prepares students for a career in business, with core subjects in finance, economics, marketing, analytical method, law and strategic management. In addition, specific maritime and logistics management subjects in ship operations, procurement, chartering, warehousing, terminal operations, logistics and supply chain management and maritime economics provide industry skills. The structure of the course is designed to prepare students for management careers in shipping, chartering, warehousing, freight forwarding, import and export and ports and terminals.


PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

This course is recognized by the Chartered Institute of Transport, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Australian Institute of Export. Membership or exemptions from selected entry examinations may be granted provided certain requirements are met.


CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Career opportunities include management and senior administrative positions in logistics, shipping, ports and terminals, importing and exporting businesses and international transport.


COURSE STRUCTURE

The Bachelor of Business (Maritime and Logistics Management) is a part-time programme. The duration may vary as students may be granted advanced standing by virtue of studies completed at a recognised tertiary institution. It is conducted in modular basis and students have the flexibility to choose the number of units for each semester. There are three semesters in an academic year: February, July and November.

** Please note that the following pre-requisites apply:

  • Analytical Methods for Decision-making pre-requisite for Transport Research Project
  • Ship Operations Management pre-requisite for Chartering and Broking
  • Economics for Transport Managers pre-requisite for Maritime Economics

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

You should possess the following qualifications:

  • GCE A levels or Diploma holders or Year 12 equivalent including a pass in English at O level equivalent
  • Those who do not have the above qualifications but have years of working experience in industry or government will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Advanced standing

  • Relevant Diploma holders will be eligible for up to 14 units exemption.

COURSE FEES *

The course fee per unit is AUD$1,575. Payment is made prior to commencement of every semester for the number of units undertaken for that semester.

All course fee is made payable via bank draft to “University of Tasmania”.

* The university reserves the right to vary course fees from time to time.


APPLICATION PROCEDURE

You are required to submit the following for application:

  • Completed application form
  • 2 sets of certified certificates and transcripts
  • Resume
  • Application fee of S$75 (inclusive of 7% GST) for Singapore citizens and permanent residents (SPR) only
  • Application fee of S$107 (inclusive of 7% GST) for foreign students holding employment pass, work permit or a dependant's pass
  • The application fee can be paid in cash, by NETS or cheque payable to “YMCA of Singapore.”
