STRATHCLYDE BUSINESS SCHOOL’S (SBS) RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

FT GLOBAL MBA RANKINGS: Strathclyde Business School’s full time MBA programme has been ranked 87 in this year’s Financial Times Global MBA ranking which lists the top 100 programmes in the world each year.

EQUIS RE-ACCREDITATION: EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) has re-accredited Strathclyde Business School with the esteemed EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) endorsement for a further five years.

Triple-accredited University of Strathclyde to form Singapore alumni

The University of Strathclyde, which was named the United Kingdom’s University of the Year in the 2012 Times Higher Education Awards, will form a student alumni in Singapore.

At an Alumni Networking and Strathclyde Business School event held at YMCA of Singapore on 14 March 2013, Mr Kevin Neo, Vice-President elect of the University of Strathclyde Alumni Singapore (USAS) said, “One of the objectives for setting up of the USAS is to build a lifelong relationship with the University of Strathclyde by encouraging close interaction and strengthening connections between the University and its alumni population. At the same time it would help establish a social network for its members to encourage and organise educational, social, cultural, sporting and civic activities deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee”. In the pipeline is the development of signature events through which USAS hopes to attract alumni, students and staff to come together. One such initiative is a series of professional development and executive training programmes.

The event was graced by Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice Chancellor, University of Strathclyde.

The University of Strathclyde Business School MBA, offered in Singapore since 1989, is among the first MBAs to be offered in Singapore. Offered exclusively at YMCA Education Services since 2009, the University of Strathclyde has an alumni of over 500 graduates in Singapore, including Mr Inderjit Singh, founder of United Test and Assembly Centre and Member of Parliament for 16 years; Mr Jack Sim, creator of SaniShop and founder of the World Toilet Organisation; and Mr Saw Ken Wye, Vice President, Public Sector, Asia at Microsoft.

Strathclyde is one of only 57 (or 1%) business schools in the world to have triple accreditation by AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. The MBA programme is among the top 100 courses in the Financial Times Global MBA rankings.

AACSB reaccredits Strathclyde for further five years

Strathclyde Business School has been successfully reaccredited by the US accreditation body, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which means that in the last year, its status as a ‘triple accredited school’ has been reconfirmed.

SBS initially gained AACSB accreditation in 2003, making it one of an elite group of schools to hold triple accreditation – accreditation from each of the three international bodies, AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. Triple accreditation is held by just 1% of business schools in the world.
