At the YMCA Education Centre, we provide a wholesome quality education that develops Body, Mind and Spirit. We help our students to develop their potential to achieve their personal best and we prepare young people to lead purposeful lives.

The YMCA Education Centre started in 1913 running Commercial Classes such as Shorthand, Book-keeping, Typewriting and Accountancy. In 1990, YMCA Education Centre started offering programmes such as the GCE ‘O’ level, GCE ‘A’ level and enrichment courses. The Education Centre also offers English Preparatory Courses at Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Levels to prepare students for placement tests to study in the local government schools and also to level up their English proficiency.  The YMCA Education Centre has come a long way, for today, we also run tertiary courses, partnering Strathclyde Business School and Australian Maritime College.

The Education Centre has 7 air-conditioned classrooms & seminar rooms that can accommodate more than 500 students in 2 sessions. There is also a computer room for IT Enrichment classes, a modern café for students to enjoy a warm drink or meal, and a lounge for students to relax and do some leisure reading after a long day of study. As a youth member of the YMCA, students also enjoy the use of the leisure facilities like the swimming pool and gym.

At YMCA Education Centre, we have a team of qualified and dedicated lecturers, committed to provide quality education. The teacher-student ratio is 1:30. Our classrooms are designed to provide a comfortable and conducive environment for learning and study. Our support staff is also committed to provide responsive assistance to student needs. Weekly assemblies and chapel sessions in the YMCA School help to develop a sense of belonging and togetherness as a school.

On top of this, there is a dedicated counsellor at the YMCA who provides pastoral care and guidance to students; helping them through their academic journey at YMCA Education Centre. The counsellor, together with the teachers, motivates and encourages our students to greater heights.

The YMCA School also ensures that all students experience learning away from the stereotype classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of community & volunteer services organized by the YMCA of Singapore, with the aim of character-building. In addition, students participate in learning journeys, fitness programmes, and many other meaningful activities like adventure training camps and co-curricular activities that truly represent the ‘YMCA Experience’.

The YMCA School has a genuine concern for both students’ welfare and academic progress. As such, YMCA School has been very successful in its partnership with parents over the years. Our attention to student well-being is certainly appreciated by students and parents alike.
